Why Do You Go To Church?

I would really like some responses to the question...

What is the number one reason you attend Church?

I am doing a "straw poll" to find out what the number one reason is people attend church today. If you want to answer, you can respond to this blog with a comment, email me, call me, or let me know if you see me.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Ronn

Quote of the Day

In a world where success is the measure and justification of all things, the figure of him who was sentenced and crucified remains a stranger.

Fatalism

Fatalism is the idea that all things are predetermined to occur and that there is no ability of the person to alter the predetermined plan of God in any event. This is not the correct biblical view. The Bible teaches us that we can influence God with our prayers (James 5:16). How this influence is worked out by God who knows all things from eternity is something apparently unexplainable in Christianity.

Today's Word

This was the Verse of the Day from Bible Gateway:

Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain.

Love God, Love Others

“If we say we love God, but hate others, we are liars. For we cannot love God, whom we have not seen, if we do not love others, whom we have seen. The command that Christ has given us is this: whoever loves God must love others also.”
                                                         - 1 John 4:20-21 GNT

Sunday Prayer

We give you thanks, most gracious God, for the beauty of earth and sky and sea; for the richness of mountains, plains, and rivers; for the songs of birds and the loveliness of flowers. We praise you for these good gifts, and pray that we may safeguard them for our posterity. Grant that we may continue to grow in our grateful enjoyment of your abundant creation, to the honor and glory of your Name, now and for ever. Amen.

Fast, Fasting

A Fast is the act of depriving oneself of food for a period of time for a specific purpose, often for a  spiritual need. It is the "weakening" of the body in order to "strengthen" the spirit. It is interesting to note that sin entered the world through the disobedience of eating (Gen. 3:6). Christians are called to fast in the New Testament. (Matthew 6:16)

Quote

Being unwanted, unloved, uncared for, forgotten by everybody, I think that is a much greater hunger, a much greater poverty than the person who has nothing to eat.
