Today's Prayer
What a Friend!
You have never failed,
Lord,
to be my one, essential, intimate friend.
When I was:
Lonely in striving - you encouraged me.
Lonely in struggling - you lifted me.
Lonely in serving - you supported me.
Lonely in suffering - you comforted me.
Lonely in sinning - you forgave me.
Lonely in sinking - you renewed me.
Lonely in succeeding - you rejoiced with me.
What a friend I have in Jesus!
Thank you, Lord.
Amen.

Today's Prayer
Your Plan
I have come to you, Lord,
for a new lift,
A new load,
A new love,
A new light
on my life's road.
I have a powerful, positive
suspicion that you have a plan
for my today and my tomorrow,
and that this beautiful plan
is unfolding exactly
as it should!
I will stop trying
to understand, and instead
start enjoying whatever
comes my way!
Amen.

Nathaniel Update
This is a text I received last night from my mom:
They took the breathing tube out around 2:30pm yesterday and began breathing completely on his own. They had a room where everyone took turns being with him. Praise the Lord. We got lots of pictures. We we get to have him as long has his kidneys last. Thanks for all the prayers.
All I know is to pray and keep our eyes on The Lord.
I truly appreciate your prayers. My trip to see Nathaniel and the family was a blessing to me. It reminds me that Jesus followers are called to be salt and light.
Thanks again,
Ronn

Nathaniel
I had the opportunity to go to Indiana and be with Trista, Johnny, and the family. with-in hours of my arrival to Riley Hospital, Johnny invited me back to see and pray with Nathaniel.
Certainly, I will always marvel at God's wonderful creation, and how he "knits us together in our mother's wombs." Psalm 139
There is not much change with Nathaniel's health, other than we see with each passing day that his life on earth will probably be quite short. Probably a day or two. Thankfully, he will have eternity in a place with no sorrow or pain; a place of perfect peace.
What great peace and spiritual clarity God granted these past two days as my church family prayed for me and my family. Thank you for praying. I give thanks to God for people like you.
I close this post with two quotes from Dietrich Bonhoeffer:
“There is nothing that can replace the absence of someone dear to us, and one should not even attempt to do so. One must simply hold out and endure it. At first that sounds very hard, but at the same time it is also a great comfort. For to the extent the emptiness truly remains unfilled one remains connected to the other person through it. It is wrong to say that God fills the emptiness. God in no way fills it but much more leaves it precisely unfilled and thus helps us preserve -- even in pain -- the authentic relationship. Further more, the more beautiful and full the remembrances, the more difficult the separation. But gratitude transforms the torment of memory into silent joy. One bears what was lovely in the past not as a thorn but as a precious gift deep within, a hidden treasure of which one can always be certain.”
"Where God tears great gaps, we should not try to fill them with human words."
